Make your ideas come to life. The Creative Science Communicator's Core Function:We're seeking a fun and professional thinker to join in our creative process as a Creative Science Communicator. The successful candidate will be well prepared for a production role in developing, writing, and laying out innovative science and engineering curriculum products for teacher and student audiences. Assisting in product development with alignment of curriculum to objectives and hands-on experiments/prototypes. As well as integrate editorial and customer feedback into curriculum products. Creative Duties and Responsibilities: Researcher, designer, and writer capable of creating and modifying curriculum products for elementary and middle school audiences. Product elements include: teacher background, student readers, assessments, appendices, and visuals. Keeps apprised of science education trends and makes recommendations to improve curriculum products. Develop and maintain understanding of current state and national framework requirements.Professional Qualifications:1) BA or BS in a relevant discipline with at least 5 years of professional experience in science writing for public audiences, particularly children. With preference to candidates with a master's degree in journalism.2) Demonstrated strong experience in scientific writing or science content development for print with preference to candidates that also have web and/or communications experience.3) Demonstrated mastery of Adobe, Apple, and Microsoft programs4) Demonstrated ability to work on deadline as part of a small, independent, and highly-driven team.5) Demonstrated strong organization skills: personal, interpersonal, verbal, and electronic communication. 6) Demonstrated professionalism and experience managing personal autonomy and creativity. 7) Ability to communicate and receive professional criticism, pitch new ideas and product modifications to internal teams and management team with a high degree of passion and professionalism.8) Strong attention to detail, adept at copyediting Additional Preferred Qualifications:1) Experience with Massachusetts Curriculum Science Curriculum Frameworks, Common Core, and/or Next Generation Science Standards.2) Experience in basic graphic design or textbook layout.3) Working knowledge of Wordpress and wiki platforms.To apply: please attach a cover letter and resume (PDF).
